FT：Biden’s administration split on whether to remove China tariffs

President Joe Biden was said to be put in a pickle about whether to remove Trump-era tariffs on Chinese imports. The decision is likely to be made as early as this week, according to Wallstreet Journal.

However, his cabinet seems to he split views over the issue ,Financial Times reported.

The Sunday report said, officials including Treasury secretary Janet Yellen take a stand that removing tariffs would help reduce inflation, while the group which includes US trade representative Katherine Tai and national security adviser Jake Sullivan reckons keeping the tariffs could oid political backlash in the election year.

To be more clear, the latter camp sees tariffs as a powerful lever in future negotiations with China.
